Tried a Little Climbing

So it was a pretty quiet weekend, much like the week before it :) On Friday evening we stayed in and watched Series. We spent a lo of time with our bunnies this weekend too.

Saturday was equally uneventful, aside from the required grocery shop and a minor emotional breakdown on my part ... I tried to go shopping for some new clothes. Varen tried warning me that lately this has been detrimental to my mood, but I was determined none the less. And he was right. I don't know if it's all my fault tho ... some blame must be laid at he door of these ridiculous shops because I can't find a damn thing that I'd like to wear (although admittedly one the rare occasion when I do it just looks awful and doesn't fit right - blegh!). So that mostly ruined Saturday afternoon for us an we spent the evening watching 88 minutes.

In Seattle, the successful forensic psychiatrist and college professor Jack Gramm is in evidence since he was responsible for the condemnation of the serial killer Jon Forster, influencing the jury to sentence Forster to death row. Forster accuses Gramm of manipulation, inducing one witness and the sister of one of his victims to testify against him.

On the eve of Forster's execution, Gramm receives a phone call telling him that he has only eighty-eight minutes of life left. Meanwhile, someone is copycatting Forster, killing women with the same modus operandi and is being investigated by the Seattle Slayer Task Force.

With the support of associate Shelly Barnes, an FBI agent, plus his friend Frank Parks and his assistant Kim Cummings, Gramm investigates some weird and problematic students, a security guard of the campus and the woman with whom he had a one-night stand as his 88 minutes continue to tick off the clock.

It was a pretty decent movie although I predicted a slightly different end (but close enough to the truth). Actually I think my ending might've been cooler and was much more "Life of David Gale".

Sunday was way more productive ;) We woke p, grabbed a quick Spinach, Feta & Red Pepper Scrambled Eggs for breakfast (my current breakfast of choice ... Varen does it perfectly!) and headed off to Wonder Wall. Varen's been trying to get me to go with him since he started climbing again (admittedly only about 2 or 3 weeks ago) and even The Divine Miss M and MsMozi have been trying to convince me to give it a bash.

It wasn't too bad, but I'm not addicted like Varen & Miss M. Varen & I both learned to belay so that we could help each other climb. I tried a couple of level 13 climbs (the easiest) and I didn't get to the top of any of them. I have a minor panic about 3/4 of the way up the wall and then glidee slowly down. But no doubt we'll try it again sometime, I haven't been put off entirely. Although I have little interest in the actual rock-climbing part of it and doubt I'll be adventuring into the outdoors to do this, as exercise, for now I think it's more fun than gym :)

nd then Squeak came over for a braai. It was the 4 year anniversary of her mom's death and GalleryGirl is currently in Spain (lucky thing, jet-setting to baby-sit paintings!) so we didn't want her spending the day alone. It was a lovely afternoon and we ate excessively :)

Oh, I almost forgot, we bought the bunnies an indoor bed which they seem to be enjoying. They are soo cute :)

Oh your bunnies are just too cute for words! I love their new indoor bed!

Re the shopping: you really need to just indulge in shoe shopping. There are so many fabulous shoe shops and trying on shoes never makes you sad! I always say to MM, shoes never make me look fat - in fact my size ALWAYS fits ;-)

Re the climbing: MM is addicted to climbing. I've been climbing with him once and I wasn't crazy about it - I got a bit panicy when I got halfway up the first wall because I felt like I didn't have much to hold onto. I might go again but definitely don't share MM's passion!

@benny - yeah, i bought some fab shows last weekend that I'm breaking in and there's another pair (totally different style) at the same place i'm soo tempted to buy!

oooh, what is with this climbing fad, has it always been around? Are people I know just suddenly getting into it these days or what? We'll have to co-ordinate a day at the wall sometime with us 3 bloggirls & our boyfs ;)

ps. are you gonna make it to the June bloggirls lunch?

@sweets - wow, at this rate we may have to organise a bloggirls climbing event ;)

I'm in for bloggirls climbing!

As for shoe shopping, I totally disagree with benny. But then again, I'm a size three shoe and have very narrow feet, so shoes that fit are like hens teeth.

Love your bunnies. Keep the pics comin!

Hey Philly, just go buy them - I love all my shoes! My friends pooled money together and gave me an Aldo voucher for my birthday and I bought a beautiful pair of boots - I feel wonderful every time I wear them!

We'll have to do a climbing thing! You can laugh at me dangle from the rope as MM 'suggests' how I should do the climb - I consider it a real test to any relationship, ha!

I unfortunately can't make the blog girls meet - I'm in CT but will be at the July one FOR SURE. I have just RSVPed!

Oh and Tamara... it's just about knowing when and where to shop... even your narrow feet can find tootsie delights. For example, Nine West have a narrow fit. Nine West come in medium and wide fits and they have size 3. Now while they might be a bit pricey, you can defnitely pick up a bargain at their sales (the winter sale will be towards the end of June) and they'll definitely have your size in stock because size 3 is often the last size to go. I on the other hand struggle to find sale bargains because I wear a very common size 5! And it is definitely worth the investment I have Nine West shoes I bought six years ago that I still wear!

The bunnies are adorable :)

Thanks for the post comment - I'm actually working on a 'what i'll miss about Oz' list right now, it's a little depressing though, so I've cast it aside for the time being.. But stay tuned!

@tamara - sheesh, who knew climbing was so popular ;)

eep, you have teeny tiny feet!

@benny - it'll be 27th July so you better be keeping it free! Oh, and I'm wearing those new shoes of mine today and they do sorta make everything a little rosier ;)

@jane - thanks :) they're so cute now that they get into their little inside-bed on their own!

@missem - will be keeping an eye out for it then ;) so funny how everyone appreciates some very different things about a place - you should check out my Jan08 UK Business trip section ;)

those bunnies are so adorable! i think i’ll give the climbing a miss too… in case you were wondering at all, lol.
i loathe clothes shopping for anything decent… jeans and t-shirts are easy and bra shopping is the most painful!

@angel - well, we'll discuss the climbing at the June08 Joburg bloggirls lunch and see if we can twist your arm ;)
