Not much to report. Except that yesterday afternoon I bought myself a skipping rope. Hysterical, I know. I decided that I need some sort of (cardio-type) exercise I can do at home because we are not getting to the gym nearly enough. Mostly because the buns really need their time in the late afternoon early evening for a run around the garden and to snack on the grass etc. and it just seems too cruel to deprive them of that. So I always intend to go to gym a bit later, but let's face it once you're home and have started relaxing (reading your book or whatever) it's very difficult to get into the mood to get changed and go out to gym only to come home and then have to start on dinner etc. So I decided I'd give skipping a bash. I can do it outside while I watch my bunnies and even listen to my podcasts at the same time (thank goodness for back-episodes!). So yes, that's about the gist of it.

Oh and my sleeping has been really weird lately. I fell asleep reading my book last night at 9pm and woke up with a start to find the lights off etc. I really didn't think I'd been asleep but apparently Varen had been up and about checking doors were locked and switching off lights all while I remained oblivious. Anyway, the crux of the problem is that even tho I fell asleep so early, I still could not drag my ass out of bed until 06h40 this morning (a full hour after the alarm goes off for the first time!!). Sigh. It's just too damn cold lately. Brrrr.

Oh, and I am so completely annoyed with Google Reader right now. I don't know what the hell is up with it at the moment but all the posts I've read seem to randomly "un-read" themselves ... it is very annoying and makes it damn difficult to know what I've read and what I haven't! Sadly since they upgraded a while back, the only option I have is to keep things un-read ... which is not really helpful in light of this issue, as you can imagine! And neither is their "Mark all as Read" since each subscription is taking so friggin long to load and then I have to check if in fact I've read all the items or there are some new ones ... sigh. Makes for a frustrating morning when all I'm trying to do is catch up on my blog-reading!

I know what you mean about getting up in the morning.

I can barely get out of bed in the morning - it's too cold! Brr. And today and yesterday really takes the cake.

That's cool that you got the skipping rope though. :) I used to love to do that but I bet I wouldn't be able to do a few rounds I'm so unfit!

Skipping is awesome. It's tricky and tiring but it's an incredible form of exercise and can help change your body shape if you can believe that.
I first started skipping 5 years ago in CT when I was doing Muay Thai. It's actually difficult to do properly but once you get the swing of it you'll really see the results.
MM bought me a skipping rope but I've been struggling to get back into it. I really should because I do pilates so I figure I also need some cardio vascular.
Oh and one last thing on this marathon comment, you might find that exercise helps with your sleeping. Often when I'm exercising at my optimum I sleep better and although it's cold outdoors, I am able to wake up. Otherwise, I recommend a Vitamin B shot to give your bod a bit of a boost.

That is very frustrating about Google Reader.

I like skipping - it takes me back to being a kiddie. It's just damn tiring, so I only ever last like 10 minutes.

Here is the plan:
- Skip 5 mins non-stop (harder than you think)
- Push ups - 3 reps of 10.
- Skip 5mins
- 3 reps of 10 - abs
- Skip 5mins
- Push ups again - and so on... Good luck.

Skipping = great exercise, but often also = two black eyes if not properly sports bra'd.

As for Man's routine...good grief, does death immediately follow that?

i like man's routine, no pain no gain baby! ;)~

@jane - Yeah, strangely skipping wasn't something that I did much of as a kid (who remembers hoola hoops? could never really get the hang of that either, but it'd also probably be great exercise these days!). Warms me up too, although I sleep too late for there to be time in the mornings ;)

@benny - yep, the only time I really used to skip was when I was doing Kick-Boxing. Thanks for the Vitamin B tip, but I think I'll give an injection a skip and just work on my self-control with the snooze button ;)

@tamara - see reply @jane re: skipping as a kiddie :) Oooh, thank goodness Google Reader has sorted their shite out now ... finally managed to get my reading done and found time to reply to all these comments!

@man - thanks ... would you believe my skipping rope (a measly R26 from Game) came with instructions and an exercise plan too? Theirs didn't include push-ups tho ...

March 100 Steps and Skip 100
March 50 Steps and Skip 50
March 150 Steps and Skip 150
March 50 Steps and Skip 50
Repeat 10 times

Yikes (and that's for the beginners ...) I'm just sticking to trying to skip 50 in a row for now ... and I do that at least 10 times. The marching ... well that I'm not so sure about ;)

@dbawiw - Paha, I don't have to worry about the 2 black eyes ... with or without a sports bra ;)

@sweets - yeah, I keep an eye on the buns all the time ... I don't think being smacked full force by a skipping rope would be very good for such tiny creatures so I'm quite cautious!
Hmmm, I'm not sure about the pain vs. gain thing ... I feel no pain when eating take-out and seem to be gaining an awful lot on the waistline ;) tee hee. sigh.

Shoo, that's a lot of replies!

@angel - yes, but some might consider you the luckier one for it ;)
