I Hate Visa Applications

Not much to say today. Varen & I finally had a night home together. He made dinner, I had a lovely bath, we caught up on what's been happening in our lives face-to-face and watched some series. It was nice and quiet. This weekend we're off to the farm so although there's loads to get done, it'll have to wait till next week ;)

I do plan to sort out the flight information part of my Canadian visa today. How idiotic is it that they want detailed flight information (ie. you have to provisionally book a flight, you can't just print out the flight you intend to take) ... but they tell you they advise that you don't book the flights before applying for your visa. So since I'll be using Travelstart (seriously, they have offered the best rates! And I didn't even know they offered International flights) I have to book the flight then get the confirmation email and then cancel the flight. all this makes me fairly nervous. Because I won't actually be booking the flight I intend taking. This all sounds crazy, I'm sure, let me explain: There are 4 Polar Bear tours that each start between 15 - 30 October. Now I intend doing the last one (best flight prices at the moment), but I don't want to limit my visa to only being valid from 30 October, in case by the time I've got it, I end up choosing a different tour with an earlier start date. Crazy, isn't it? What happened to the good old days when you could just book the things you wanted to do and apply for the visa after the fact! Makes things so much simpler! This getting-your-visa-beforehand thing is really stressing me out. Cause I feel like I have to rush it so that I can book my stuff asap. And to be fair, visa applications make me nervous at the best of times. So yeah, as soon as the "Live Help" people at Travelstart wake up, that's what I'll be doing today ... and then hopefully I'll be handing my application over to Visas Zone (what a ridiculous company name, seriously!) on Monday and have the visa before the end of next week ... and then things start to get really expensive :)

Glad you guys got some quality time together. Booking a flight and cancelling it would freak me out too. Why can't every Visa application be like Zanzibar? All you do is fly there and buy one in the airport for US$50 ;-)

I don;t understand them wanting your flight information before they'll give you a visa- but advising you not to book your flight!?!?? Or did I read it wrong...
